Home Body by Rupi Kaur – Book Thoughts Vol. 9

Home Body by Rupi Kaur

And here I find you again with a Rupi Kaur’s most recently published book!

Home body is the third book of Rupi Kaur that contains her poem collection. It is divided into four chapters; Mind, Heart, Rest and Awake. You travel through her experience and go through her emotions, building up from heart break to growth. From pain to self-awareness and appreciation.

- "Home" (Poem)

When I received the book a week ago, I read it instantly and finished it in on sitting. Now I’m on my slow re-read of it where I go through every poem slowly and consciously. Don’t get me wrong, the first time I didn’t just skim it, but I read it deeply, however I just couldn’t put it down and with every page I was longing to read another. Until I figured that I was on the last page.

But with her books, I like to reread every poem, taking in every word and every emotion bound to each one.

While reading it, I realize that it’s a mirror of my emotions and thoughts. If not all the poems then most. It’s as if my soul is staring back at me with words.

And you know what’s special about it? It’s the simplicity of words and raw emotions that you desperately connect with and feel all. It’s not that I went through what she went through. It’s not that I had a replica of her mind or heart. It is simply an explanation of emotions that fit your own in the most different yet identical way. The words explain perfectly your own experiences and journeys while being completely different from hers. That's the magic of her poems I think.

"A mirror of my emotions and thoughts"

Again her writing is simple and her poems are not complicatedly structured, yet they bring about your raw inner thoughts and feelings. You go on a journey or let’s say a roller coaster of different perspectives.

Read Away my friends - and maybe explore your heart even more along the way.

 Salam!

Mind, Heart, Rest and Awake
