A Giro Of Florence
So, last weekend, me and some other friends decided to take a last minute adventure and go to Florence for a giro (a ride around). We just took the car and drove to Piazza Sant'Angelo. We got there, and the weather was perfect, like a cool, chilly but not as cold as we expected so that was a nice luck. From Piazza Sant’Angelo, you can see the whole centre of Florence. The most beautiful view that takes your breath away.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that Florence is my favourite city in the world. Well after Jerusalem, but still. It simply makes you feel so many emotions at once.
It took us like fifteen minutes just staring at the city, the Duomo, the Signoria and taking it all in. Just breathing in the art that is teleported into your soul. I know I know that sounds dramatic, but it is true.
We took some pictures, went for a walk in a nice park along the way, then walked to the city centre.
So this time, as I’ve been here so many times before, we weren’t aiming for the historic sights which I will probably write a whole blog post about some time soon, but we just wanted to have a little walk, and have some gelato and coffee. You might be wondering how crazy we are to eat gelato in this weather. But let me tell you something about Italy. It’s never too cold for a gelato. Truly it doesn’t matter, it’s just inevitable.
We had a nice walk through the streets that have transformed into Christmas wonderlands. The lights are everywhere and people are just enjoying their time out and about. We got to the massive magnificent Duomo (Santa Maria) and thus reaching our gelato destination.
The gelateria is called Edoardo and if you go to Florence, it’s a must. I have adopted the mission to try out and judge gelato places in Italy and this is by far my favourite. It’s a bio (vegan) made gelato that is fully magical. The tastes are so rich and flavoured. They have a nice variety of flavors, but I always go for Chocolate, Hazelnut and Strawberry. I know I’m basic that way.
We grabbed our delicious Gelato, sat on a bench and stared at the Duomo. In a matter of minutes, we devoured it all.
Definitely worth the giro.

Yes we decided it was time for coffee, so we grabbed it to go and headed back to the car. The walk back was chill and nice.
The nice thing is that we walked all through Piazza Della Signoria and Punto Vecchio. The view of the river in the night is beautiful with the sparkling lights mirrored on the water.

Florence is just one of those places you lose yourself in its magic and capture you through its buildings, art and atmosphere. So if you’re looking for a place to make you feel alive, Florence will be here, no matter the time of year.
