It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover - Book Thoughts Vol. 8
It Ends With Us |
Yet again, we end up with a book review of one of colleen Hoover’s novels. And by no surprise, this book was amazing and I flew through it.
This is a
romance novel that is very realistic and represent deep issues in all of our
societies. So it’s not just fairy tales and happy endings. Don’t get me wrong I
will not say anything about its ending (no spoilers here haha). It’s a really
unique story that follows a young woman called Lily who meets a guy, Ryle,
randomly on a roof of a building and start sharing truths. From there, the plot
begins.
You follow
their beautiful story, with its easy and hard truths that make all the more
interesting. You get deep into it that you feel close to the characters. You
see love, unique friendships, family. Yet all intertwined with a twist.
Another aspect of the book that I loved was that Lily kept a diary in which she addressed all of her entries to Ellen DeGeneres, so I thought that was a nice and connecting addition to the book. It made it closer to reality and funny in a way.
"There is no such thing as bad people. We're all just
people who sometimes do bad things"
She wrote in the journal all of her childhood
experiences that witness domestic abuse. You dive into time and into her
childhood and watch her life unfold in front of you.
Oh and another note, if you end up reading this book, read also the Note from the Author at the end (I know I don’t often read them but this time it was worth it), it makes you understand some things in the book and the inspiration behind certain things.
"I think about it sometimes, no matter how convinced you are that your life will turn out a certain way, all that certainty can be washed away with a simple change in tide." |
Until next time,
