The Art of Old-ish movies
So for the past week I’ve been into this mood of watching old movies, okay old romantic movies (are you happy now?). I went on to Netflix, and spent most of the nights picking a movie and just disappearing into that time.
Can you believe that it’s been 26 years since fate and love collided with Sleepless in Seattle, 21 years since the classic romantic comedy Runaway Bride, or 33 years since the world swooned over Dirty Dancing and 42 years since the classic musical Grease!
I’ve decided to switch things up on here and write my thoughts about these four movies that gives you another way to travel.
Sleepless in Seattle
This whole movie week started when I was browsing through the movies (and like every single time, endlessly looking through the movie list and ending up with another Friends episode) yet this time, I came upon Sleepless in Seattle. I have heard about it before, but when I saw that Tom Hanks is in it, I just grabbed my tea and pressed play.
The movie revolves around recently Widowed Sam (Tom Hanks), his Son Jonah who starts the whole partnership with fate to help his father find love once again, and engaged Annie (Meg Ryan) and her midnight car drive listening to a radio talk-show that changes her life.
Okay that was my synopsis of the movie without spoiling it haha.
The story of the movie is just so unique and different from all the other romantic movies I’ve seen out there that makes it stand out. It gives you a glimpse of how fate works and maybe the help that it can give for a little push. If you’re looking for a movie that will just grip you, give it a go, I’m sure you will love it.
Runaway Bride
So a Julia Roberts' movie has to be included in these kind of classic movie list!
The story of Runaway Bride is simply one of a kind, about Maggie (Julia Roberts) and her series of fiances she leaves at the alter, and Ike Graham (Richard Gere!!!), the reporter who decides to write about her. Come on... can it more of a romantic comedy movie than this! So from here you just follow their continuation of meetings where yes you have guessed it right, chemistry and love comes in.
You just can't keep a smile off your face while watching this movie and the occasional sudden laugh that gets you.

Dirty Dancing
So by this time, I have decided on a list of movies I’m going to watch, and Dirty Dancing was on the top of that list. I think I’m a bit late to the party with this movie. But seriously could it be anymore perfect?
“Spending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances "Baby" Houseman falls in love with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny Castle.”
Now I know why people keep mentioning this movie. It’s filled with love, dancing, life, and stubbornness. You just love Patrick Swayze’s Character and Baby. At first I just wasn't a big fan of Penny but then she grew on me, and Baby’s sister…. I think there’s no way to describe her, just watch it, you’ll understand.
After finishing it, it just stayed in my mind that night and the day after. So definitely I’ll be watching it again.
Grease
Don't you want to see good old John Travolta in Grease? I still can't believe it's the same guy!
and yes I haven't watched grease before. Maybe just a few scenes here and there, but not fully. I finally made up my mind and watched it!
"Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. When they unexpectedly discover they're now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?"
I loved the musical part of it and the dancing. The story is your typical high school love story but the setting of the 70s is what makes it amazing!
I still can't get over how cheesy John Travolta is in the movie... in the best way possible though haha.
Until next time…
Salam!
