Poetry Books Recommendations

So during this time, we are scrambling to find things to do to spend our days besides work or studying. Maybe just to keep something light to do on the side along with our chores.

So if you decide to choose reading (and yes you have chosen the best choice there is... haha), a reading option can be a collection of poetry if you’re not interested in novels or other kinds of books. They’re a bit faster to read than novels which can encourage you more to fly through them. And besides there are so many poems with various subjects out there to choose from. For me I chose Rupi Kaur’s collections.

So, I came upon Rupi Kaur poetry collections last year and I fell in love with them instantly.. She published two collections ; “Milk and Honey” and “The Sun and Her Flowers”. You’ve probably seen or heard about the former more than the latter, but they are both magnificent.

The thing about the poems she's written is that they tackle real issues we face in our lives. She wrote about a bit of everything.

Each book is split into different sections of poems, in which each section is about a feeling.
For example, in Milk and Honey, the feelings are: The Hurting, The Loving, The Breaking, The Healing. So in a way, it’s something like a cycle of feelings. How they build up in one’s life or relationships, transforming from one feeling to another, reaching a conclusion. Reaching an understanding of self. Mind, heart and body.

They make you feel aware of your feelings, the simple and the complex ones. From deep within. It’s amazing how simple words can have this affect on you.
She also writes about the mind as well as the body, and the relationship of each one of us, especially women, with their body.

While reading them, you can’t help but connect, feel and be aware of what’s inside our hearts and minds. It’s something unique.

Reading them is unique and I suggest for you to do so, if you’re interested.

I never thought I would be interested in reading poems, or whole books of them for that matter. But after reading those, I’m hungry for more.
If you have suggestions of good ones you think I should travel through, please tell me!

Ps.  If you really want to read something now, whether they are these poems or any other kind of books but you are not able to reach a library or a bookstore, you can always read online, through ebooks or audiobooks (if you prefer listening to them instead). So there are many platforms to do so. :)

Read away…
