Free Time You Say?

So, how’s everyone doing? I bet a lot of you guys have some free time on your hands at the moment, with everything that has been going on. I know I do. So why not consider this a wake up call and just do something for yourself and focus on that. You never know you might discover your passion.
Yes you can spend your days binging a tv show or watching six movies a day (ehm, Maybe The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit series.... just saying) and no it's not a bad idea. However I'm going to suggest other options to switch it up.

Option #One
The first and my personal favourite is (ding ding ding) read a book or two. Okay maybe three or four. Really you get on a roll and just feel good about it. One book can bring you this sense of peace and calmness, trust me. I have just finished two books, one of which is called “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng (it was really nice if you want a suggestion), and I already started a third one. Just give it a try.

Option #Two
Practice that instrument you’ve always wanted to play. I'm going to take advantage of this time to practice the ukulele more, maybe learn a song or two. So if you have an instrument, and you want to learn, now is the time! Even if it’s piano, flute or any other instrument. Hell it can be the triangle. Just pick it up and strum.

Option #Three
Clean or declutter your space. Yes that might sound boring and the opposite of fun but it can be detoxing and surprisingly positive. Okay I know it’s just basically cleaning and tidying up but it actually does help and is good for your mind and space. Besides, it can be a good use of your time and you will thank yourself later.

Option #Four
Remember those games we used to play when we were kids called puzzles (Jigsaw Puzzles)? Well now is the perfect time for them. Get your old puzzles out, or get a new one and start it. Yes it can be maddening at times (i know it sometimes gets me frustrated when I'm missing a piece ... Ok most times ten pieces haha) but it can be so calming, because you just put all your focus on building it and lose track of time. It's really a fun option, might as well try it.

Option #Five
Write. Just let those words in your mind out on a paper or a laptop. Do a brain dump in which you just write whatever idea or thought that comes to your mind, whether they make sense or not. You can write articles, short stories, poems… really just anything with letters and thoughts.
Writing is therapeutic, you can’t imagine how much. Besides you might end up surprising yourself with how good of a writer you are.

Option #Six
Do yoga or meditate. Now you have a bit more quietness, or something close to it. Give it a shot. Get your mat or blanket out, put a yoga practice sequence on youtube and do it.
You can also try meditating. Try to focus on your body, your breathing, and relax each one of your muscles. Let your mind calm down, let it leave and wander into nothingness for a bit on its own. Meditation is hard but amazing, and with practice it gets better and better.

Option #Seven
I’m going to leave this option for you to figure out. There are so many things you can do. All you have to do is just do it. Let your thoughts and heart guide you. Let the time be your space. Be aware of everything that surrounds you, of the positive energy that buzzes around you waiting to consume you.
Let it…

And enjoy

Salam!
